Team Callaway Competition starting at the fourth VLN round at the Nürburgring

The team from Leingarten will compete with the new Corvette C7 GT3-R in class SP9 at the 47th Adenauer ADAC German payment Trophy from 24-25. June 2016. Piloting the Whelen-Corvette is an experienced driver-team: Patrick Assenheimer official, Boris Said and Daniel Keilwitz.

The “Green Hell” poses a fresh and new challenge for the German built beast, with the team anxious to
learn as much as possible. The team will be backed by American manufacture company Whelen Engineering. Whelen’s specialty includes audio and visual warning equipment for automotive, aviation, and other industries. The American company currently sponsors the Number 31 entry in the ADAC GT Masters.Spearheading this weekend’s entry, will be a trio of Callaway’s most experienced drivers at the Ring. Double GT3 champion Daniel Keilwitz joins ADAC GT teammate Patrick Assenheimer, along with American driver Boris Said. Despite  a strong lineup, the team’s main target for this new event, will be gathering crucial data acquisition ahead of a potential entry at the 2017 Nurburgring 24 Hours.

"I'm very excited to join the next VLN race with Callaway and the new C7 GT3.” explains Keilwitz. “To be a part of the
first race with this car on the Nordschleife will be a special feeling. Whenever a new car comes to this track, the whole world watches closely with how well it will perform.”

The debut for the new Callaway built machine has so far been very strong. With only 6 races under its belt, the American beast has already claimed two victories (including a 1‐2) and four total podium positions. While a victory is not on the radar for the team this weekend, a top result is certainly not off limits.

“This is the cars first ever race at this circuit, so we are approaching this event with caution and the goal of gaining valuable data for the future.” Explains Assenheimer. “But for sure, if we get the chance to challenge for the podium, we will certainly fight for it!"

Track action for the team starts on Saturday the 25th of June at 0830‐10 for Qualifying and later at 12:00 local time for the 4 Hours event.
